WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
The manual microblading method utilizes a sterilized single-use hand tool to create the most natural looking, realistic hair strokes in eyebrow permanent makeup. This instrument with a grouping of very fine needles in a row deposits pigment into the upper layers of the skin, approximately half a millimeter deep. The correct eyebrow shade and thickness are customized using a wide range of high quality hypoallergenic permanent makeup pigments and sterilized needle sizes. Before the procedure, the brow shape is carefully marked with a pencil, allowing determination of the best color and shape for the individual.
Microblading does not require your entire eyebrow to be shaved and does not damage your natural hair. To keep discomfort to a minimum, anesthetic creams are used before and during the procedure. The entire process takes only 2 hours and there is no down time. A (2nd Initial Procedure) touch up is required 1-3 months after 1st Initial Procedure. Pigment retention depends on skin type, age, aftercare, sun exposure, use of certain skin products, pigments used, immune system, medications and other factors. Touch ups are recommended once a year to prevent natural fading.
Step 1: Consultation
At your complimentary consultation, Lindsay will discuss with you the results you are hoping to achieve. If you draw in your eyebrows currently, she will look at the shape and color you are comfortable with and make recommendations based on your face shape, skin tone, hair color, age and lifestyle. Lindsay will draw on the shape that best suits your face to give you an idea of what you can expect at your appointment.
Step 2: Microblading
At your appointment Lindsay will draw your eyebrow outline, using a stick-on eyebrow ruler and waterproof pencil to serve as a guide throughout the procedure. Once both sides are symmetrical and the client approves of the shape, the skin in the area is lightly poked with the same needle to be used in the procedure and anesthetic is applied. Once the skin is numb Lindsay will begin microblading, filling in the guideline one stroke at a time, mimicking individual natural hairs. Lindsay will create the desired thickness and use the agreed upon pigment color discussed at the consultation. Lindsay always begins on the subtle side- it is very easy to darken and thicken the result by using a darker pigment at the touch up appointment and filling the area with more strokes. After the eyebrows are completed the client will sit up to take a look and make sure their new eyebrows are absolutely perfect! If any additional strokes are needed, Lindsay will add them in.
Step 3: Aftercare/Healing
The aftercare and healing process are very important to your final result. Lindsay will go over your aftercare instructions and provide you with a written copy. A dry healing process is critical to achieving the best result which includes 10 days of not getting the area wet, no excessive sweating and no makeups or creams on the eyebrow area. This allows for the best possible pigment retention and crispness of hair strokes.
Days 1-2: Your eyebrows will be approximately 20-40% darker than the healed result will appear. Under the pigment the skin is red and will also naturally exfoliate resulting in a natural loss of some of the pigment as your skin heals.
Days 3-4: Some very light scabbing may occur and the skin may feel slightly itchy but it is important not to scratch or pick.
Days 5-7: As natural exfoliation occurs, the pigment color may seem lighter or even disappear in some areas but over the next couple of weeks will become darker again to reveal your healed result.
After approximately 1 month your eyebrows have completely healed and it is time to come in for your touch-up appointment.
Step 4: Touch-up
Once your new eyebrows have healed Lindsay will take a look at your final results and you can discuss with her any areas that you desire to be thicker or darker. The pigment will naturally retain in some areas more than others and in this second appointment any strokes that healed lighter than others will be gone over again to even everything out. Also if an overall darker pigment color is desired, or a denser, thicker look is desired, Lindsay can add in more strokes at this second appointment. Exactly like the first appointment, Lindsay will apply anesthetic and begin microblading, however less strokes will be necessary so this appointment is shorter than your first. The healing and aftercare process will be the same following your touch-up procedure, but slightly less intense since this was a less invasive procedure than your first. You can now enjoy your new brows that won’t need to be drawn on every day for approximately 1-2 years before they will start to fade and you can make your next appointment.
